Introduction[]
"Many vehicles behave quite differently compared to BF2 and require more advanced knowledge to use. Since they also have very long spawn times (up to 20 minutes) it is vital to know how to keep them from harm."
In Project Reality each faction has its own set of vehicles and they're side-locked, meaning you can't steal enemy IFVs, aircrafts, boats, cars, etc. This is done to reflect the difficulties one would face unlocking and operating a enemy vehicle in real life, as well as forcing players to use the assets they're given to enhance immersion and to maintain balance.
The vehicles in this game are devided as follow:
- MBT, Main Battle Tanks: Tracked armored vehicles that are designed to target enemy armor, soak in a lot of damage and support infantry and other vehicles.
- IFV, Infantry fighintg vehicle: Wheeled/tracked vehicles designed to go on the offensive and attack enemy infantry and armor as well as transport infantry into battle.
- APC, Armored Personal Carrier: Wheeled/tracked vehicles that are used to safely transport infantry and keep them protected from enemy small arms fire.
- AAV, Anti-Aircraft Vehicle: Wheeled/tracked vehicles that are designed to take down enemy aircraft from the ground, either through the use of Surface-to-Air Missiles or anti-aircraft guns. These vehicles can also be used to attack enemy infantry and ground vehicles, but this should only be done for the purpose of self-defense.
- Jeeps: Wheeled vehicles that have various roles including transport, logistics, anti-tank, artillery, etc.
- Bikes: Wheeled vehicles that are designed to be highly mobile as well as keeping a low profile from the enemy. For the most part, the bikes themselves are expendable and are sometimes seen in big quantities and have a small respawn time.
- Trucks: Wheeled/tracked vehicles designed to transport infantry or deliver supplies and repairs.
- Jets: Fixed winged aircraft that are designed to perform strafing attacks against infantry and ground vehicles as well as being a valuable asset in dealing with enemy aircraft.
- Attack Helicopter: Rotary aircraft that are designed to engage infantry and armored vehicles from above and even fight off against enemy aircraft.
- Transport Helicopter: Rotary aircraft that are designed to transport infantry into the battlefield and even drop supplies.
All these vehicles, except for jeeps, trucks, boats and bikes require a specialized kit to be operated. In case of air vehicles you will need a pilot kit, for ground vehicles you'll need a crewman kit. Some light APCs such as the VAB, TPz Fuchs and M113 only require the driver to have the crewman kit.
