Ammunition is essential to any type of warfare and in Project Reality, the limited ammo system makes an efficient and speedy supply system shine.

What is ammo?[]

Ammo is the amount of shots avaliable for a weapon before there is nothing to fire. Ammunition systems apply to infantry, vehicles, jets, and helicopters.

Where can I resupply my ammunition?[]

Infantry[]

As Infantry, you are able to resupply your ammunition from friendly ammobags, ammoboxes, supply crates, and supply depots.

Land Vehicles[]

When in a land vehicle, you are only able to resupply your ammunition from your supply depot, cycle through all your weapons to make sure your ammunition is full

Helicopters[]

When using a helicopter, you are only able to resupply your ammunition from your main base, to be more accurate, the location when the helicopter was found in the first place. As of patch 1.0, choppers can no longer resupply on the runway, and must land on the helipad section.

Jets[]

Resupplying jets is a complicated and possibly disasterous process for the unexperienced player, to resupply jets, you must first land the aircraft, then taxi your jet to the designated hangar. After that, you must taxi your jet back onto the runway, in order to liftoff.

How can I effectively conserve my ammunition?[]

Infantry[]

  • Avoid reloading needlessly, don't reload unless you know for sure that your weapon is less than 25% full (It's a common paranoia)
  • Fire in controlled bursts or switch your weapon to semi-automatic fire. Greater accuracy = Less wasted ammo
  • Use the right tool for the right purpose (i.e. It wouldn't be very effective as a rifleman to try and engage tanks with a fragmentation grenade)
  • Use ammo bags found on friendly and enemy rifleman kits

Land Vehicles[]

  • Machine guns on light vehicles such as HMMWVs and Land Rovers do not run out of ammo as fast as you might think, most of the time, overheating causes the weapon not to fire, not a lack of bullets.
  • Use the right ammunition for the right purpose (i.e. HEAT for Soft-skinned targets, AP for Armor)
  • Avoid firing shells at enemies that are caught in the open, use the coaxial machinegun instead.

Helicopters[]

  • Avoid shooting needlessly when using the transport choppers' side door HMGs
  • Fire your missiles in short, controlled bursts at your target when using air-to-ground missiles
  • 1 Air-to-ground guided missile is often enough to clear a large area of infantry and other soft-skinned targets, using more would be a waste

Jets[]

  • Fire your missiles in short, controlled bursts at your target when using air-to-ground missiles
  • Fire air-to-air missiles only when a lock is aquired, firing several missiles at a target without a lock wastes ammunition and puts you in jeporady later in the dogfight.
